PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT May 8, 2008
As I write this note, my neighborhood buzzes with the sounds of Spring as nesting birds compete with lawn mowers for air time. EACMA too is bustling with energy and activity. At the March luncheon, 150 of our members met, mingled and munched at the Madison Hotel as the 2008 quarterly luncheons got off to a fine start. The good weather of mid-April has been much appreciated by our golf enthusiasts and both the Computer Club and Financial Club are in full swing with an array of interesting speakers and topics.
The 2008 Day Trip program is off and running with a well-attended visit to the Frick Collection of paintings, sculpture and other works of art in Manhattan. On the schedule is a visit to the Hunterdon Hills Playhouse in Hampton, NJ on June 12 for lunch and a matinee performance of Neil Simon’s comedy The Last of the Red Hot Lovers. Also being researched is a Fall foliage trip. Lastly, but certainly not least, the extended trips to France (including Paris and Normandy) in June and the lower Mississippi River in September offer rare opportunities to combine both great vistas and memorable history. Details on all of these activities can be found later in this newsletter.
Congratulations to the 66 EACMA members who reported 11,948 volunteer hours to the DEEDS Enrollment and Recognition Record. I commend these volunteers for their dedication and support to the 75 worthy organizations and agencies which they serve. Well done !
And speaking of volunteers, Past President Jack Griffel has volunteered to sit in for me at the June 18 luncheon. A previous commitment will prevent me from joining you at that time. I hope to see you at one of our upcoming events and wish you all a healthy and pleasant summer.
Arnie Goldstein (EACMA President)
