EXXONMOBIL DEEDS AWARDS FOR 2007 VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES

ExxonMobil encourages retirees and spouses to volunteer for community services through the DEEDS (Dedication, Enthusiasm, Extra Effort, Discipline, Service) recognition program. Volunteers who have performed 50 or more hours of service in a year qualify for a DEEDS award. In 2006, 68 members of the ExxonMobil Retiree Club Morris Area contributed more than 13,000 hours of their time volunteering for various organizations. Qualifying organizations include charitable, social welfare, health, civic, scientific medical, literary, education and cultural institutions. Political and basic religious groups (except for church programs providing community service beyond its membership) do NOT qualify. To be recognized for 2007 at the annual DEEDS breakfast and qualify for the award from ExxonMobil, Retiree Club members should document their activities on the enclosed form and mail it to Art Thomas before April 1, 2008

DEEDS Program for Recognition of Volunteerism

Many Retirees, spouses and surviving spouses are actively involved in volunteer programs with non-profit, charitable organizations in their communities. To recognize these people for their efforts, ExxonMobil established the DEEDS program in 1985. DEEDS is an acronym for
D-Dedication, E-Enthusiasm (or ExxonMobil), E-Extra Effort (or Employee), D-Discipline, and S-Service.

Our EACMA "DEEDS" program should not be confused with either the ExxonMobil Volunteer Involvement Program (VIP) or the
Mobil Retiree Volunteer Program (MVP) which are discussed, separately, below.

The purpose of the DEEDS program is to encourage retirees, their spouses and surviving spouses to channel their energies into charitable activities, to encourage ExxonMobil Retiree Clubs to participate as a group in various charitable activities, to enhance the positive image of ExxonMobil retiree groups within their communities and to provide a positive community service activity to increase public visibility of ExxonMobil Retiree Clubs. Exxon Mobil also believes that volunteerism benefits not only the receiving charitable organization, but also the person who is actively involved.

All ExxonMobil retirees, their spouses and surviving spouses who perform 50 or more hours of volunteer work for charitable, social, welfare, health, civic, scientific, medical, literary, educational or cultural organizations qualify for DEEDS recognition. Eligible organizations include such groups as local fire departments, ambulance, first aid groups, museums, theaters, hospitals and libraries. Service provided to religious or political groups is excluded. However, a church program providing charitable services for the community beyond its membership (for example, Meals on Wheels) is eligible and should be recognized by DEEDS.

ExxonMobil will provide an annual recognition memento for each person who meets the eligibility and reporting requirements. The ExxonMobil Retiree Club Morris Area also invites eligible members to an annual breakfast to further recognize their volunteer activity.

Each year all members of the ExxonMobil Retiree Club Morris Area are encouraged to participate in the DEEDS program and provide details of their volunteer activity for the previous year to the DEEDS Coordinator. The tabulated responses are submitted to ExxonMobil Retiree Affairs by April 15.

The EACMA DEEDS SUMMARY table (above) shows that in 2006, sixty-eight EACMA volunteers provided 13,487 hours of community service to 72 organizations.

Art Thomas (DEEDS@EACMA.org) is the current DEEDS Coordinator and invites questions and comments.  To report your volunteer service hours, the form near the top of this page is provided for your convenience.

ExxonMobil VIP and MVP Programs For Volunteerism

Get A $500 Grant For The Place Where You Volunteer
Grants are available if you or your team donate at least 20 hours per
year to a qualifying charitable or community service organization.

The ExxonMobil Volunteer Involvement Program (VIP) and
the Mobil Retiree Volunteer Program (MVP) are separate from, and independent of (and should not be confused with) our EACMA DEEDS program (which is described above).  The following information (which pertains only to the VIP and MVP programs and NOT to the DEEDS program) is provided to help clear-up and/or avoid any confusion among the several different programs.

Depending on which program you register for and how many people are on your team of volunteers, grants (from ExxonMobil) for the VIP and/or MVP programs can be obtained for as little as 20 hours of charitable volunteer community service work per year.

For example, individual volunteers (or groups of at least five volunteers) who donate at least 20 hours per year to a qualifying organization can apply for a $500 grant (from ExxonMobil) for each qualifying organization at which they donate at least 20 hours per year.

To learn more about the ExxonMobil Individual Volunteer Involvement Program (I-VIP) or the ExxonMobil Team Volunteer Involvement Program (T-VIP), or the Mobil Retiree Volunteer Program (MVP), log on to the ExxonMobil Retiree website (http://www.emretiree.com/) and click on the BENEFITS link and select BENEFITS AND PROGRAMS.  This will bring you to the ExxonMobil Benefits and Programs page at http://www.emretiree.com/htprot/pages/BenefitsandPrograms.htm where you can select either of the following two links:
